$100,000 profit from 2010 RBC Cup
After months of wondering how much money was made from the National Junior ‘A’ Championship, we have our answer: $100,000.
Gerry Musey, the financial chairperson on the 2010 RBC Cup committee, crunched all the numbers from the week long event with the help of several volunteers.
Committee co-chair Randy Daley says the two big areas that made the most profit were ticket sales and marketing, which also entails advertising and local business support. Daley notes all of the other areas of the event either met their budget or exceeded them.
Daley says the report itself is very thorough. “We wanted to make sure that our financial statement was broken down so that not only would we be able to know where all the revenues came from and where all the expenses went, but anybody using our document for resource in the future would have a really good grip on what they need to plan for and budget for”.
Randy Daley credits all the volunteers that did the finances on their own time.
Daley mentions the money won’t be distributed right away to groups like the Legacy Fund for a number of reasons, including a late invoice Friday morning. “We have to sit on some of this money to make sure that any outstanding debt or any outstanding invoices are collected and paid prior to distributing the money” says Daley. “We’re fairly confident that there aren’t a whole lot our there, we just want to make sure”.
The Legacy Fund includes the following groups…
DAUPHIN KINGS HOCKEY CLUB
DAUPHIN RECREATION SERVICES
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
SPECIAL EVENT FUND
MINOR HOCKEY LEGACY FUND
With concerns to the other four visiting teams that took part in the RBC Cup, Daley says they’ve been accounted for but they won’t be involved in the money going towards the Legacy Fund.
The clubs were…
VERNON VIPERS (BCHL)
LA RONGE ICE WOLVES (SJHL)
OAKVILLE BLADES (OJHL)
BROCKVILLE BRAVES (CHL)
Bold team won the 2010 RBC Cup
Daley was pleased with the profit from the event, considering the Committee’s initial profit goal was $75,000.
