Dauphin Kings @ Neepawa Natives November 5th

DAUPHIN KINGS (10-9-2-0) 22 Points 5th in the Sherwood Division

NEEPAWA NATIVES (12-4-0-1) 25 Points 3rd in the Sherwood Division

The Neepawa Natives are the hottest team inside the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with wins in eight straight games. They’ve outscored their opponents 31-12 during that stretch and also have a six game unbeaten streak going at the Yellowhead Arena.

The Natives welcome the Kings for the first time this regular season; these two clubs did meet at Credit Union Place back on September 21st with the Kings collecting a 6-3 win. Shane Luke lead the Kings in scoring that game with a goal and two assists while three other Kings players had two points in what was then their third straight win to start the season. Former King Justin Slobozian countered with two points of his own with Neepawa; five other Neepawa players at least a point in the loss.

Dauphin took advantage of the powerplay on September 21st as they had three goals on six opportunities; Neepawa on the other hand could only muster one goal on four opportunities with the man advantage.

Brett Willows would collect the win between the pipes with 29 saves on 32 shots; Wendell Vye, despite a number of key saves, took the loss with five goals against on 34 shots.

Both of these clubs have started off November with wins and the Neepawa Natives are in third spot in the Sherwood Division with 25 points; the Dauphin Kings are in fifth spot with 22 points. Eleven points separate the six teams within the division (Terriers, Stampeders, Natives, Blizzard, Kings and Wolverines).

Coming into this game the Dauphin Kings have a record of 4-4 in their last eight road contests.
